Olivia Wilde Was Basically Missing Half of Her Dress on the Red Carpet

A whole new level of nakedness.

Sideless fashion is officially having a moment — at least, if Olivia Wilde has anything to say about it. Just days after walking the red carpet in an LBD that was both backless and sideless, she made another appearance at the 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, where half of her dress was missing. 

For the Saturday night event, Wilde was a walking sartorial oxymoron in a black gown that featured a turtleneck, long sleeves, and a massive side cutout that spanned the entirety of her midriff down to her legs. The only thing keeping the dress from coming undone was a long white bow that was loosely tied at the hips. And Wilde was fully aware of the duplicitous nature of her dress. "Gimme a full-length turtleneck and also hypothermia," she wrote alongside a side-view photo of the gown on her Instagram Story.  

Allowing her dress to steal the spotlight, Wilde accessorized minimally, adding only a pair of strappy black sandals and long diamond drop earrings to her look. She painted her nails a cherry-red color and finished off her glam with glossy pink lips, winged eyeliner, and a bouncy blowout.

While backless fashion has been around for quite some time, the sideless trend is just gaining momentum — and so far, Wilde is seemingly its biggest supporter. Earlier this week, the actress attended the opening of Tiffany & Co.'s exhibit "Tiffany Wonder" in Tokyo, and wore a strapless black midi dress that had a major surprise when she turned to the side. With several panels of material that were unaccounted for, the LBD was held up only by a sheer piece of fabric around her upper back.
