Honkai: Star Rail version 1.4 'Jolted Awake from a Winter Dream' will be releasing on 11 October, featuring three new playable characters, the first rerun for a 5-star character, new events, and tons more other content!

This version will notably be shorter than other versions, lasting only five weeks until 15 November.

HoYoverse has yet to clarify the reason for this change and how it will affect the content in version 1.4.

But before we break down everything coming in version 1.4, here are the livestream codes! Make sure to redeem them to get Stellar Jade and other rewards before they expire.

Jingliu, Topaz, and Guinaifen join the fray

The biggest highlight of Honkai: Star Rail version 1.4 are the three new playable characters: the 5-stars Jingliu and Topaz as well as the new 4-star Guinaifen.

Jingliu will be the featured 5-star of the first half of version 1.4 while Topaz and Guinaifen will take the spotlight in the second half.

Jingliu

Jingliu is a living legend of the Xianzhou Luofu, having been a member of the mythical High-Cloud Quintet and the strongest swordmaster in the history of the worldship.

She was also once the master of the Arbiter-General Jing Yuan before she lost control of herself due to the effects of mara.

Jingliu wields the Ice element and follows the Path of Destruction. In combat, she can enter an enhanced state after using her skill a certain amount of times. When in this enhanced state, her attacks become much more powerful but will consume the HP of her allies.

Jingliu is a powerful damage-dealer that can wipe the battlefield clean with the proper support, but players need to make sure that they have enough sustain to heal through both enemy attacks and the HP consumption from Jingliu's abilities.

Topaz and Numby

Topaz is a high-ranking member of the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC), possessing lofty titles like Senior Manager of the Strategic Investment Department and leader of the Special Debts Picket Team.

But of course, we can't talk about Topaz without talking about her beloved companion and sidekick, the Warp Trotter Numby! Aside from aiding Topaz in her day-to-day dealings in the IPC, Numby is also often Topaz's (apparently unwilling) source of cuddles based on one of her idle animations.

Topaz wields the Fire element and follows the Path of the Hunt, specialising in dispatching single targets with follow-up attacks. Numby also helps Topaz in combat, acting as a separate character that performs follow-up attacks similar to Jing Yuan and his Lightning-Lord.

In battle, Topaz can boost the damage of follow-up attacks on a single target with her skill and empower Numby with her ultimate.

The pair are also very handy in exploration, as Topaz can summon Numby to seek out nearby Treasure Chests or Warp Trotters. Not only that, Topaz can also use her Technique to gain more Credits in the Overworld or Cosmic Fragments and Curios in the Simulated Universe after winning a battle.

Guinaifen

Guinaifen is a street entertainer and streamer residing in the Xianzhou Luofu, but she's not actually a native, having come to the worldship from elsewhere.

Guinaifen's original name is actually Guinevere, with her Xianzhou name being given to her by her best friend Sushang, who also taught her about the Xianzhou Alliance's culture and customs.

Guinaifen wields the Fire element and follows the Path of Nihility, specialising in dealing damage-over-time with the Burn debuff.

She can inflict Burn on enemies with her normal attacks, skill, and ultimate, with her ultimate also triggering any existing Burn debuffs to immediately deal their damage on command.

Seele becomes first 5-star character to get a rerun

Aside from the debuts of three new characters, Honkai: Star Rail version 1.4 will also feature the game's first-ever rerun for a 5-star character: the fearsome Seele!

Seele wields the Quantum element and follows the Path of the Hunt, able to take out single targets and gain more turns with each enemy she defeats.

Seele will have her rerun in the second half of version 1.4 alongside her signature Light Cone, In the Night. She and her Light Cone will have their own separate banners from Topaz, making it so that players who only want to pull for Seele and her Light Cone don't have to worry about getting Topaz or her signature Light Cone. Genshin Impact players (me included) are seething their game's reruns aren't this good.

New map, quests, and enemies

Aside from the new characters, Honkai: Star Rail version 1.4 also adds a host of other content to the game, including a new map in Jarilo-VI, two new quests, a new Stagnant Shadow boss, and mob-type enemies from the IPC.

First off, there's a new Quest type being introduced in version 1.4 called Trailblaze Continuance, which is likely to be a form of interlude quest before the main storyline continues in Trailblaze Missions.

The upcoming Trailblaze Continuance, 'Future Market', will see the arrival of Topaz to Jarilo-VI, where she aims to pay a visit to the new map called the 'Pillars of Creation', a memorial symbolizing centuries of Belobogian resistance. With that said, the arrival of the IPC to Jarilo-VI seems to have caused quite the disturbance in Belobog...

Version 1.4 also adds a new Stagnant Shadow boss, the 'Stagnant Shadow: Shape of Scorch', which players can defeat to acquire ascension materials for Topaz and Guinaifen. There are three new types of mob enemies from the IPC being introduced in the Pillars of Creation as well, namely the robotic IPC Senior Staff — Team Leader, IPC Grunt — Field Personnel, and IPC Grunt — Security Personnel.

New Pokemon-like event with free 4-star character

Honkai: Star Rail version 1.4's main event will be 'Aetherium Wars', a Pokemon-like event where players will collect digital copies of in-game enemies to battle other NPCs in a new arena located in Jarilo-VI. Aside from the usual rewards of Stellar Jade, Credits, and ascension materials, completing this event will also let players get a free 4-star character from the Belobog cast!

The 4-star characters players can choose from include the Lightning Erudition character Serval, Ice Nihility character Pela, Physical Nihility character Luka, and Fire Destruction character Hook.

There's also another big event for the Simulated Universe: 'Planar Infinity', which will let players engage in a infinitely progressing challenge with enemies growing stronger with every stage cleared. Don't fret though, as Herta will adequately equip players for the challenge by making Blessings and Curios have either multiplied or even infinite effects.

With three new characters and one character rerun, players may find themselves in need of more Star Rail Special Passes. Luckily, version 1.4 will see another 'Gift of Odyssey' event, where players can check-in over the course of seven days to get 10 Star Rail Special Passes for free.

Finally, the Planar Fissure and Realm of the Strange events will also make a return to give players double rewards when farming Relics for the new characters in the update.

Honkai: Star Rail version 1.4 is scheduled to be released on 11 October. The game is currently in the second half of version 1.3, featuring the debuts of 5-star Quantum Preservation character Fu Xuan and the 4-star Quantum Abundance character Lynx.

After version 1.4 comes version 1.5, which will see the release of new characters Huohuo, Argenti, and Hanya, on November 16.
