Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse has unveiled the first batch of upcoming playable characters releasing in version 4.0: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet!

Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet were among the roster of playable characters in Fontaine revealed by HoYoverse in the jaw-dropping “Overture Teaser: The Final Feast” trailer on Monday (3 July).

The trio are siblings that have carved out quite a place for themselves in Fontaine society.

Lyney is the celebrated Court Magician of the Court of Fontaine while Lynette is his assistant, the two were also the first-ever Fontaine characters revealed by HoYoverse in the “Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail” teaser before Genshin Impact’s release back in September 2020.

Meanwhile, Freminet also gained renown as an exceptional diver of the Court of Fontaine.

Here's everything that has been revealed so far about Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet!

As the Court Magician of the Court of Fontaine, Lyney is widely known for his ability to bedazzle audiences with his magic tricks and showmanship. While he is undoubtedly the most famous magician in Fontaine, he has even started referring to himself as “the greatest magician in all of Teyvat”.

With that said, Lyney becomes a very different person once he’s off the stage. When he’s with his siblings and close friends, the magician is known more for being a reliable older brother, courteous visitor, and devoted friend.

Lyney wields a Pyro vision and his constellation is Felis Fuscus, which means ‘black cat’ in Latin. While his rarity has not yet been revealed, we’re fairly confident that he’ll be the first 5-star character from Fontaine we can get to play as!

While Lyney steals the show as a magician, Lynette is much more introverted by comparison despite her own remarkable skill as a magician’s assistant. As Lyney sweet-talks the audiences and wows them with his sleight-of-hand artistry, Lynette quietly ensures the show goes on without a hitch from the background.

Lynette’s personality doesn’t change much once the show is over either. She comes off as the type of older sister that is quiet and disciplined, but that doesn’t make her any less caring towards her siblings.

Another thing about Lynette that sets her apart from her siblings are her cat-like characteristics, namely cat ears and a tail. This means she isn’t fully human, perhaps coming from a similar lineage as Diona, a member of the Kätzlein Bloodline who also appears human but with cat ears and a tail.

Lynette not being a human also could mean that she, Lyney, and Freminet are not actually blood-related siblings. Perhaps the three are either outcasts or orphans that decided to make their own family together in order to survive and thrive in Fontaine.

Lynette wields an Anemo vision and her constellation is Felis Alba, which means ‘white cat’ in Latin. Her rarity has also yet to be revealed.

Freminet

As the youngest brother of Lyney and Lynette, Freminet prefers to stay out of the limelight where his older siblings make their livelihood. Instead, he found his calling as one of the divers of the Court of Fontaine, exploring the region’s underwater areas and gathering valuable maritime knowledge.

Freminet also prefers to be a lone wolf and doesn’t take commissions from others, instead opting to slip away and bask in the weightlessness of the ocean, pouring his heart out to a Romaritime Flower. Even so, he has gained renown as a diver for his professionalism and exceptional ability to stay focused.

One very interesting thing about Freminet is that he is also described as an ‘automaton’, which seems to point towards him not being human. He won’t be the first such character in the game, as the Wanderer, the Raiden Shogun Puppet, and Katheryne are also mechanical beings that appear very much human.

Freminet being an automaton also lends further credence to our theory that him, Lyney, and Lynette are not actually blood-related siblings.

Freminet wields a Cryo vision, though his drip marketing didn’t indicate a constellation for him. In addition, he is also seen using the infamous ‘The Bell’ claymore, which may point towards him having a HP-scaling kit to synergise with the weapon. His rarity has also yet to be revealed.

The highly-anticipated release of Fontaine, as well as Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet, in Genshin Impact version 4.0 will be in mid-August. But more than just adding a new region, version 4.0 will also add a new dimension to Genshin Impact's gameplay by introducing underwater exploration and combat.

But while we wait for version 4.0, there's still version 3.8 to help us bide the time. The last version update before we move on from Sumeru to Fontaine features long-awaited reruns for Eula, Klee, the Wanderer, and Kokomi as well as tons of other new content.
