Singaporean singer Aliff Aziz apologised at a media conference on Monday (27 July) following a scuffle that occurred between him and his wife at a karaoke centre in Malaysia four days earlier.

The incident happened on Thursday (27 July), during which his wife, Bella Astilla, had reportedly discovered Aliff with another woman, who turned out to be his co-star from Malaysian television show “Izinkan Ku Mencintaimu”. The co-star involved is rumoured to be up and coming actress Afifah Nasir, 24, who is already married.

During the media conference, which was held at a ballroom in upscale Kuala Lumpur suburb Bukit Jelutong, Aliff said, “I understand that whatever I say here, people might not want to hear or accept it. Whatever it is, I’m a normal human being.”

Aliff, who was detained for two nights under the domestic violence act, admitted that he was the source of the “tragedy” and apologised for what had happened. Aliff has been released on police bail.

Meanwhile, Bella, who was the one who had reported Aliff to the police soon after the incident, denied allegations that Aliff had hit her.

“I was disappointed to read in the media stating that Aliff had hit his wife. That’s not true,” said Bella, whose real name is Dayang Nurnabellah Awang Astillah, adding that she might have gotten hurt by accident during the scuffle.

“If Aliff had really hit me, I’m sure the employees at the karaoke centre would have helped,” said the mother of one, who had only given birth recently.

While both Aliff and Bella did not address the reason why Aliff and his co-star were at the karaoke centre, Aliff revealed that he had spoken briefly to his co-star telling her that “we’re both wrong”.
