Ryan Reynolds has shared that his wife Blake Lively wasn't happy with one of his career moves and that he even deemed it to be 'really bad news' for her.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, the 45-year-old actor-turned-entrepreneur revealed that his wife of almost 10 years reacted negatively to the news that he'd bought Welsh football team Wrexham FC with actor Rob McElhenney.

'I remember seeing Blake, saying, "I have bad news and I have really bad news. I slipped into someone's DMs again. The really bad news is that I might have bought half of a fifth tier national football league in Wales," ' he recalled.

Reynolds purchased the Welsh club Wrexham with McElhenney in 2020.

Referring to Lively's lack of enthusiasm for this business venture, the father-of-three admitted: 'We are still working through that one.'

The Maximum Effort founder said he met McElhenney by sliding into his DMs.

He also hilariously revealed that David Beckham mocked his and McElhenney's lack of football experience.

The comment from Beckham came during the football team's recent game at Wembley Stadium, which saw the co-owners celebrating an apparent goal that had actually been dismissed by the referee for being offside. (For the non football-versed, that refers to when the shooter scores while being in the opponent's part of the pitch.)

'How humiliating,' Reynolds said.

'We were cheering. We looked over at Beckham. He was just shaking his head,' McElhenne added.

As well as being a businessman, Reynolds, like Lively, is known for his acting pursuits, and last December he explained how he and the Gossip girl alum balance parenthood with their busy acting schedules.

During an interview with the career platform LinkedIn, Reynolds, who shares three daughters (James, seven, Inez, five and Betty, two) with the Betty Buzz founder, said: 'I mean, for many years when my wife Blake would shoot a film, I would not shoot a film.

'And I would be with the kids and vice versa. So we sort of trade off. We never really worked at the same time.'

This was during the time at which he announced his career break.

While Lively wasn't thrilled with Reynolds buying a football team, we wonder what the actor thought of the 34-year-old sneaking out of the house for New York Fashion Week to experience 'a whole alternative life'.

While at Michael Kors' AW22 runway show in February, she told E! News: 'This is his first night show ever, which is very exciting.'

She then quipped: 'I could put my kids to bed and then secretly sneak out and go have a whole alternative life'.
