Prince Harry is ‘heartbroken by situation with family’

From Harper's BAZAAR

The Duke of Sussex is "heartbroken by the situation" with the royal family, revealed ITV anchor Tom Bradby in a new interview.

Bradby, who spoke to Prince Harry and Meghan during their tour of Africa in 2019, said, "I think he [Harry] is heartbroken by the situation with his family, you don't necessarily need to have knowledge to know that, but I think it is true."

However, discussing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to step back from their senior royal roles and move to America, Bradbury stated the couple are "content" with their new independent lives.

Speaking on an episode of Love Your Weekend With Alan Titchmarsh, which airs on Sunday, the broadcaster said: "So are they unhappy? No, I think they are content, the things they are doing they are quite excited by."

Since their official departure from the UK in March last year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have set up a new life in the United States with their one-year-old son, Archie. They have spent much of the past year becoming financially independent thanks to lucrative deals with Spotify and Netflix, as well as building their non-profit organisation, Archewell.

Although Bradby was reluctant to discuss Prince Harry's relationship with older brother William, he did reveal that the royal split had been difficult for everyone.

He said: ‘Well, just the situation with the family clearly isn’t ideal and it has been a very difficult year for them all. To some extent I felt a little bit caught in the middle of them with that documentary which is a deeply uncomfortable place to be and that is, in a way, why I am always reluctant to say anything more because I don’t want to make anything worse or get in between anything or anything like that."

In the months leading up to the couple’s departure from the royal family, Prince Harry opened up about the situation in Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, stating that the brothers were on "different paths" and have good and bad days.

The ITV documentary, presented by Bradby, also saw the couple speaking honestly about their mental health struggles with the duchess admitting she was "not really ok".

Bradby said the couple still "wrestle with their position in life" but that he believes they are happy.

He revealed: "I think they are pretty happy actually, but I think they wrestle with their position in life – I think they all do. I think William does too. I don’t think he finds it easy."
