With many global offices shutting down, and most of us working from home, managing a healthy, active lifestyle can be a challenging task. But most of your gym exercises can be replicated at home thanks to social media – particularly Instagram and YouTube – so you can still work out all your body’s muscle groups. The internet has made it easier for everyone to find workout ideas and training tips, and we’ve been following some of these accounts for a while now.

Here are some of our favourite health influencers in South-east Asia to follow, including half-Kadazan Dr LA Thoma Gustin, the wife of Flash actor Grant Gustin.

Andrea ‘LA’ Thoma Gustin

As a doctor of physical therapy, Gustin knows movement is essential, especially for those of us spending long hours in a chair while working from home. Before kickstarting your work laptop, take slower breaths and “wake up” your body with some stretches to get the blood flowing, followed by some intense high intensity tactical training (HIIT) moves. We love Gustin’s easy-to-follow workouts, and her simple approach to home workouts (she even conducts live Instagram Story classes).

Liv Lo Golding

When she’s not busy accompanying her husband actor Henry Golding around the world for movie premieres, Golding promotes her online workout Fitsphere by Liv Lo that incorporates HIIT, yoga and weights training. You can catch some of her workout videos on her Instagram Story (with an occasional peek of her off-duty husband, too).

Jaymee Ong

Australian-Chinese Jaymee Ong may have found her footing as a TV host for shows like AXN’s ebuzz and The Contender Asia, she gained new fans when she graduated as a private trainer and yoga instructor. Ong and her husband, Matthew Heath adopted a strict exercise regime ever since Heath suffered from a stroke in 2012. Ong, who’s currently living in Australia with her family, often posts her workouts on her Instagram account. Despite the social distancing measure advised by the Australian government, Ong still finds time to engage with her fans and followers with her dedicated sweat exercises.

Nana Al Haleeq

If there’s anyone who can make weightlifting look easy, it’s none other than Malaysian celebrity Nana Al Haleeq. The fitness model, coach and host once suffered from depression after university days, but she turned to fitness to build up both her mental and physical strength. Since then, she hasn’t looked back; often sharing tips and motivational exercises on her Instagram account.
