Kate Middleton wears a military coat dress for first royal appearance since Prince Philip's funeral

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made their first royal engagement following Prince Philip's funeral. Yesterday, Prince William and Kate Middleton visited the 282 East Ham Squadron, Air Training Corps in East London to hear more about how the Air Cadets support young people in developing life skills.

While there, the squadron paid tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh, who was the Air Commodore-in-Chief of the Air Training Corps for 63 years, with a Three Cheers Salute. In 2015, Prince Philip passed the military patronage on to Kate, when she became Honorary Air Commandant.

Following the Prince's passing, the royal family are observing an official mourning period, reflected in the Duke and Duchess' outfits. For their first royal engagement post-funeral, Kate wore a black Dolce & Gabbana military-style coat dress with gold buttons, which she then finished with matching Tod's block heels, clutch bag and a pair of pearl earrings. Prince William appears to wear a dark navy suit with a white collared shirt and contrasting tie.
