Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth's longtime husband, passed away on April 9 at age 99. Under ordinary circumstances, the Prince's funeral would have included thousands of in-person visitors and mourners, but the COVID-19 pandemic is causing most people to watch the ceremony from home.

According to a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, the service will be "much reduced in scale and with no public access," in order to comply with government guidelines. Only thirty people will be in attendance at the event, which will take place at Windsor Castle. However, the funeral will be televised.

When is Prince Philip's funeral?

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 17 at 3 p.m. local time, or 10 a.m. EST. BBC One, the British network, will broadcast the event. The ceremony will begin with a National Minute's Silence (a moment of silence).

Prior to the service, at around 2:45 p.m. local time, there will be a ceremonial procession inside the grounds of Windsor Castle, also set to be televised. As of now, Prince Charles, along with a few other members of the royal family, are set to walk in the procession.

How can I watch the funeral live?

While the funeral will be broadcast on a number of British networks, including BBC, Sky, and ITN, it has not yet been announced which American stations will carry the services. The Palace recommends that royal fans and mourners watch the ceremony from home, as to comply with Britain's partial lockdown.

We will keep updating this page with American broadcasting and streaming information as the funeral approaches.
