This new year, don your favourite casual chic outfit (leave your shorts and slippers at home) and make your way to The Grand Lobby at Raffles Hotel Singapore for an Oslo Afternoon Tea. This experience is for a limited time only, from 3 January to 6 March 2022. Soak in the hotel’s grandeur as you revel in the Norwegian-inspired sweet and savoury spread. The Norwegian coastline is renowned for its quality seafood; here you’ll get to sample seafood highlights such as Avocado Hash with Smoked Salmon and Semi-Boiled Quail Egg and traditional pickled herring Rollmops with Beetroot and Horseradish Cream.

Sweet treats to sink your teeth into include the classic Fyrstekake, a rich Norwegian cardamom and almond tart; creamy tangy-sweet lingonberry mousse Trollkrem; fluffy Skillingsboller or classic Norwegian cinnamon buns; and Kransekake, elegant traditional almond cookies. Assembled on a beautiful three-tier silver stand, the selection of Norwegian treats is accompanied with home-made original and raisin scones, alongside clotted cream and strawberry rose jam. Complete your afternoon tea with fine Mariage Frères tea from France or have your caffeine fix when you sip your coffee brewed with Raffles Custom Blended Coffee Beans.

The Oslo Afternoon Tea experience at $88++ per guest will be offered alongside the signature Classic Afternoon Tea. Available Monday to Thursday, 1pm to 5pm, and Friday to Sunday 12pm to 6pm

The Lobby Lounge, Intercontinental Singapore

With its lofty ceilings and charming décor, The Lobby Lounge at Intercontinental Singapore is the perfect spot to catch up with friends. The new festive Afternoon Tea showcases treats are elegantly assembled on a three-tiered stand. Some of the highlights include a tree-shaped coconut panna cotta and chocolate mousse with mango passion fruit compote and coconut sable as well as candied chestnut Mont Blanc tart.

The latter is a light vanilla tart made of chestnut sponge cake with white chantilly cream. Also savour Christmassy flavours like speculoos snowman macarons and Panettone topped with mascarpone, apricot jam and Kirsh-soaked Morello cherry.

Scones, your quintessential tea time treat, are elevated with homemade morello cherry jam, orange jam and clotted cream. You’ll also get to enjoy unlimited ice cream (about three flavours are offered) with your choice of toppings. There are of course savoury delights such as potato mushroom quiche and baked turkey breas with chicken floss in beetroot basket to boot.

Pair these bites with fine loose leaf tea or coffee (S$98 for two persons). Or why not celebrate the season with chilled Taittinger Brut Champagne (S$128 for two persons)?

The festive afternoon tea is available daily from now till 31 January 2021. There are two seatings: 1pm to 3pm, 330pm to 530pm.

The Lobby Lounge at Shangri-La Hotel is a tranquil venue for you to get away from the crowds. The three-tier Local Signature Set features savoury creations like chilli crab puff, smoked salmon canapé, prawn roll, hae bi hiam sandwich and vegetable curry puff.

You’ll also get to savour all manner of sweet items such as ondeh ondeh, kueh ko swee, kueh lavender, rainbow lapis, mung bean ang ku kueh and peanut ang ku kueh. Besides these delicate local bites, scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and hearty servings of pulut hitam with coconut milk are brought to the table too.

All these items are plated on beautiful Peranakan crockery – perfect for instagram moments. The set includes two cups of coffee, tea, or local drinks like kopi tarik and teh tarik. Priced at S$42 per set on weekdays and S$48 per set on weekends.

Head there Mondays to Fridays, from 3pm to 5pm, or Saturdays and Sundays, from 3pm to 5pm.

Gather your girlfriends for a relaxing afternoon tea at The National Kitchen by Violet Oon Singapore. Their Singapore High Tea sets comprises three-tier stands laden with scrumptious savoury and sweet items. You will get to tuck into Violet Oon’s well-loved signature dry laksa tossed with prawns, tau pok and bean sprouts, as well as savoury bites like the chilli crab tartlet with quail egg, and Coronation Chicken jazzed up with a creamy curry mayo paired with crispy wanton skin.

The popular kuay pie tee is filled with bamboo shoot and turnip poached in a richly flavoured prawn bisque, and topped with prawn and chilli sauce. Jumbo Seafood at Ion Orchard launched its Weekday Dim Sum Afternoon Tea Set (S$48 for two persons) as an alternative for those who want to try something different for tea time. The two-tiered set offers a range of delicious bites such as the pan-fried Jumbo chilli crab buns brimming with sweet and spicy chilli crab meat and gravy, and crisp lotus root puffs filled with cured ham and shrimp.

There are also unique new items such as deep-fried pumpkin-shaped mochi dumpling filled with molten salted egg lava, and black sesame mochi that’s been steamed and pan-fried for a slightly crisp texture.

Served on the side in a bamboo steamer are classic siew mai filled with prawn and pork, and steamed prawns and spinach dumplings wrapped in fine translucent skin. Sweet creations to munch on include baked orange egg tarts - a hint of zesty orange marmalade mingles with the silky smooth egg custard and buttery pastry crust, and the pretty swan-shaped puff filled with sweet yam paste with salted egg yolk.

Round off with a refreshing dessert of chilled lime jelly with mixed fruits. Your afternoon tea set comes with a pot of floral tea of your choice. Mott 32, Marina Bay Sands

Contemporary Chinese restaurant Mott 32’s late afternoon menu is ideal for those craving for mid-day dim sum creations. There are about 35 dishes ranging from scrumptious main courses for sharing to dim sum elevated with premium ingredients.

Tuck into delicate items such as traditional Iberico pork Shanghainese soup dumplings (S$10), Iberico pork siu mai with soft quail egg and (S$9) and king prawn har gow (S$10). You’ll also get to enjoy the Singapore-exclusive signature crispy sugar coated Peking duck bun ($10), decadent Australian wagyu beef puff (S$12), and pan-fried turnip cake perked up with dried scallops and Japanese sakura shrimp (S$12).

Complement these with cold free-range chicken spiked with Szechuan peppercorns and chilli sauce (S$26), and crispy squid with baby corn and salt and pepper (S$16). Mains are more extravagant and great if you’re planning to have an early dinner. Indulge in crispy king prawns laced with Chinese rice wine, vinegar and chilli (S$42) and the signature smoked black cod (S$56).
