SINGAPORE - Channel 5 actress Rosalind Pho Li Ann was fined $1,750 for drink driving in the State Courts on Thursday (10 October).

Pho, who acted in drama series Tanglin, was charged with the offence earlier on the same day. She paid her fine immediately. The 36-year-old has also been disqualified from driving for 15 months with effect from Thursday.

Hours after her court case, Pho commented in an Instastory post that she had not thought she would fail the breathalyser test as she was “not even tipsy”.

“Moral of the story is, I thought I was okay. Just because I was not tipsy doesn’t mean that I was not over the limit. So I feel pretty terrible about what happened. And the lesson learned is, don’t be like me, guys, don’t drink and drive,” she said in the Instastory.

Pho, a Netherlands citizen and Singapore Permanent Resident, pleaded guilty to driving her Lexus ES300H along Holland Road on Wednesday (2 October 2019) at about 12.50am while having 47 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Her alcohol intake was above the prescribed limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

According to court documents, Pho had gone to bistro Wine Company along Dempsey Road on 1 October at around 10pm. She consumed two glasses of white wine there between 10.15pm and 11.30pm.

Pho left the location after midnight and drove home. While driving along Holland Road, she was stopped at a police roadblock at about 12.50am.

She failed a breathalyser test and was arrested. She was then escorted to Traffic Police for a Breath Analysing Device test which revealed the proportion of alcohol in her breath.

During her court hearing on Thursday, Pho asked for a reduction in the disqualification period as she needed to run errands and ferry her mother, who will be having an eye surgery.
