MATT HARMON: Matt Harmon here, excited to be joined by 49ers quarterback Trey Lance. Trey, how are you feeling, buddy?

TREY LANCE: I'm doing great. I'm excited to be here for a couple of days and excited to get back on the field.

MATT HARMON: Yeah, man, I bet. The last couple of years for you, man, have been, I mean, a wild ride, honestly. Between the COVID season, you play in the one game, and then you get drafted by the 49ers. You're behind Jimmy, then this year happens. How have you just dealt with all of that and kind of kept yourself focused on yourself?

TREY LANCE: My mindset has stayed the same, control what I can control. My injury was out of my control. Jimmy came in and played really well. Brock came in and played really well.

MATT HARMON: Yeah.

TREY LANCE: So for me, it was just-- I kept the main thing the main thing the whole time. My biggest focus was about getting healthy and staying as involved as I could in the meeting room, asking the same questions that I would have been asking, things like that. But for me, it was just making sure that I was still around, still showing my face, still just being around the guys, and that helped me a lot. Those guys-- how hard those guys play every single week and how well they play, it inspired me and it pushed me throughout the season.

MATT HARMON: What is the relationship between you and Brock? You're both younger guys, kind of coming into the league around the same time. What's he like as a guy?

TREY LANCE: Oh, he's a great dude. A great dude to be around, even before, going back to training camp and OTAs. Just being able to hang out with him off the field-- just a great human being.

MATT HARMON: Yeah.

TREY LANCE: It's really like-- being able to meet his family, his brother, his girlfriend, people like that. The people that he surrounds himself with really says a lot about him. I mean, Brock's a quiet guy, soft spoken. But obviously, like I said, he came in and played really, really well this year. And nothing can be taken away from him. Man, I feel horrible for him for what happened in the NFC Championship game, but I know he's going to be back healthy in a few months.

MATT HARMON: So for you heading into this year, what are kind of like your goals for this season, for the offseason getting healthy? And then this is a great group of guys that you're going to be throwing to this year.

TREY LANCE: Oh, no doubt. I mean, it's tough not to think about that--

MATT HARMON: Yeah.

TREY LANCE: --how many guys and just having Christian come back. I haven't really played with George in a game setting--

MATT HARMON: That's true, yeah.

TREY LANCE: --because of his injuries. No, I'm super excited, man. And my goal is obviously, firstly, I'm going to get on the field.

MATT HARMON: Yeah.

TREY LANCE: That's number one. But just being able to spend time around these guys this offseason season, being able to get around, and obviously my first priority is just getting healthy.

MATT HARMON: 100%. But you're here on behalf of Sleep Number. Tell me a little bit about what you got going on there.

TREY LANCE: Yeah, I mean, sleep for me-- my partnership with Sleep Number works out perfect because sleep has always been a super important part of my life. And I've always understood that I'm just a person who needs my sleep. And my Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed ensures that I get the quality sleep that I need. And obviously, with my recovery process, sleep is one of the most important things. So it's been a perfect partnership for me.

MATT HARMON: Man, people underrate how important sleep is, honestly. I got friends or whatever-- it's like, oh, man, I'm just not feeling my best. I'm getting sick all the time. It's like, well, how long do you sleep, like four hours a night? No, that's not enough.

TREY LANCE: Big difference.

MATT HARMON: Big difference

TREY LANCE: Big difference.

MATT HARMON: Big difference. Well, that's good stuff.
