Elsewhere, there have been reports of Ousmane Dembele’s agent being contacted by Paris Saint-Germain live on TV while Bayern Munich have confirmed Niklas Sule will leave the club at the end of the season amid previous links with a move to Chelsea.

Arsenal look likely to miss out on Bruno Guimaraes as he closes in on a shock move to Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are now thought to be discussing salary arrangements with Manchester United over a loan switch for Donny van de Beek.

Arthur blow for Arsenal

Arsenal’s move for Arthur is in serious doubt, with a disagreement over the length of his loan deal, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The report claims Arsenal are only interested in signing the Brazilian on loan until the end of the season, while Juve want an 18-month deal with an option to make that permanent for around €40m.

The Gunners’ hierarchy are said to be “unconvinced”.

Newcastle pressing for Bakker deal

18:32 , Malik Ouzia

French outlet L’Equipe say Newcastle have made a €20million offer for Bayer Leverkusen full-back Mitchell Bakker.

The report claims the player’s agents are in England to agree a deal ahead of the transfer window closing next week, with PSG not interested in executing the buy-back clause included in the 21-year-old’s move to the Bundesliga club last summer.

Possible Everton boss Pereira hurt by fan opposition

18:04 , Malik Ouzia

Everton managerial candidate Vitor Pereira admits he is hurt by fan opposition to his potential appointment but it has not put him off wanting the job.

The club’s search for a seventh permanent boss in six years took a bizarre twist when the Portuguese, who has emerged as owner Farhad Moshiri’s preferred option, appeared on live television to discuss his credentials.

“This is the first time in my career I have seen this kind of thing, I’ve never had these comments about me,” Pereira told Sky Sports News.

“I think these critics are not directed at me. It is the environment now as the club is not in a good position and the supporters are passionate - and this passion is the power of the club.

“They don’t know me, my work or me as a person or my CV. I don’t take it as a personal attack. I work in a lot of countries, different clubs, at different levels, and we got several titles but before you start work you don’t know the person and you cannot judge.

“But I understand the feelings of the supporters because, in the last few years, the club didn’t get good results and it is normal they are not happy.”

Tuttomercatoweb claim Liverpool are preparing an offer to bring Paulo Dybala to the Premier League.

Out of contract in the summer, the Argentine is reportedly viewed as a potential option to refresh a Liverpool attack not to have been refreshed in a while, albeit amid the continued excellence of Mohamed Salah.

Bayern claim Chelsea target Niklas Sule will leave the club this summer

15:15 , Jonathan Gorrie

Bayern Munich chairman Oliver Khan has confirmed German international Niklas Sule will leave the club at the end of the season.

The defender, who has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea, has rejected the club’s offer of a new contract and will duly leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season.

“It took a long time and we made him an offer. He didn’t accept that offer,” Kahn said.

Sule switched to Bayern from Hoffenheim in 2017 for around 20 million euros ($22.5 million) and has since made 158 appearances across all competitions for the Bavarian powerhouse.

talkSPORT claim Farhad Moshiri is ready to turn to Frank Lampard should he decide against Vitor Pereira.

While the latter is understood to have been the first choice, an angry reaction from the club’s support could now lead them to Lampard, who is reportedly set for more talks.

Chelsea’s summer transfer plans

14:38 , Jonathan Gorrie

Chelsea’s over-reliance on N’Golo Kante is anissue, as is the need to play with two holding midfielders to accommodate Jorginho’s lack of mobility, writes James Robson.

Declan Rice is a long-term target, while Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni has been extensively scouted. Conor Gallagher, on loan at Crystal Palace, is also under serious consideration, specifically as cover for Kante.

While Tuchel and Chelsea are huge admirers of Erling Haaland, there are concerns over the number of German-based players who have struggled in the Premier League. Ousmane Dembele is another player of interest, but Chelsea are well-stocked with wide forwards.

Luis Diaz to Tottenham latest

11:49 , Jonathan Gorrie

Tottenham face an uphill struggle to sign Porto‘s Luis Diaz, with the clubs currently some way apart in their valuation of the forward, writes Dan Kilpatrick.

Spurs have opened talks with Porto over Diaz, who has a release clause of £66million, but their opening proposal of around £37m plus add-ons has been rebuffed by the Portuguese club.

Diaz, 25, is one of Europe’s most sought-after attackers, having scored 14 goals in 18 league appearances this season, while the Colombian finished joint-top scorer with Lionel Messi at last summer’s Copa America.

His capture would be a significant coup for Spurs, and help to appease head coach Antonio Conte, who has called for signings before the end of the month.

Fabio Paratici, Spurs’ managing director, is thought to be leading the pursuit of Diaz but they will likely have to significantly up their bid to tempt Porto to sell mid-season.

Crystal Palace in loan talks with Manchester United

11:32 , Jonathan Gorrie

Crystal Palace have opened talks over a move for Van de Beek after Newcastle expressed interest earlier this month, writes James Robson.

The hope from United’s point of view is that any short-term deal will be as effective as Jesse Lingard’s loan to West Ham last season, which earned the forward an England recall.

But interim manager Ralf Rangnick is determined not to leave himself short in the second half of the campaign, having allowed Anthony Martial to join Sevilla on loan yesterday.

Tanguy Ndombele to PSG update

11:29 , Jonathan Gorrie

Tottenham‘s hopes of offloading Tanguy Ndombele to Paris Saint-Germain could depend on the Ligue 1 club being able to trim their squad before the transfer deadline, writes Dan Kilpatrick.

PSG have held talks over signing Ndombele on loan until the end of the season, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino – who signed the Frenchman for Spurs – believing he would add much-needed quality to his midfield.

But there are concerns at PSG about the size of Pochettino’s squad, with the Argentine already working with more than 30 first-team players.

Arsenal target considers shock Newcastle offer

11:08 , Jonathan Gorrie

Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who has been tracked by Arsenal and Juventus, is mulling over an approach from Newcastle, writes Simon Collings.

Bruno has impressed in Ligue 1 over the past 18 months and it has led to him becoming a part of Brazil’s senior squad.

The 24-year-old has been scouted by Arsenal for a number of years, ever since he played for Athletico Paranaense in Brazil, but Newcastle are now leading the race to sign him this month.

The Magpies have made an approach for Bruno, who is valued at over £30million, and both he and Lyon are considering the proposal.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal now firm up their interest after tracking and scouting the midfielder.

Juventus could force Aaron Ramsey out

10:41 , Jonathan Gorrie

Aaron Ramsey’s money-spinning move to Juventus has not exactly gone to plan.

Having only completed 90 minutes in Serie A twice since his switch in 2019, the Welshman has been cast aside by Max Allegri and could now be forced out. According to Il Bianconero, the Italian giants are ready to completely freeze Ramsey out should he not take up a Premier League offer this month.

Huge Premier League battle for Endrick

10:20 , Jonathan Gorrie

You’ll probably have seen footage of young Brazilian striker Endrick exploding across social media, such has been the 15-year-old’s impact in the Palmeiras youth set-up.

While the teenager cannot actually leave Brazil until he is 18, foreign clubs can sign him on a pre-contract when he turns 16 and, unsurprisingly, Premier League teams are said to be keen.

According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea are ready to battle both Manchester clubs and Liverpool for his signature.

Newcastle need to go ‘crazy’ in order to sign Sven Botman

10:02 , Jonathan Gorrie

Newcastle’s pursuit of a central defender has proven fruitless so far and things could well get desperate for the newly-rich team in English football.

According to ABC Sevilla, the Magpies will have to make a ‘crazy’ offer for Diego Carlos in order to tempt Sevilla into selling. So far, the Spanish club have managed to hold off when faced against the financial power of Newcastle and will likely demand a figure of up to 50m euros, a club record for Newcastle.

Aston Villa launch Bentancur bid

Aston Villa have made some impressive additions this month with Steven Gerrard at the helm, having already secured the services of the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne.

Now they could be on the verge of another high-profile signing in the shape of Rodrigo Bentancur.

According to Football Insider, Villa submitted an official bid worth around £18m to Juventus for the Uruguayan midfielder on Tuesday night.

Bentancur is reportedly very eager to move to Villa Park, but Juve won’t let him go until they can find a suitable replacement.

It is the same reason that Arsenal have so far been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Arthur Melo.

Southampton poised to launch £25m Broja bid

09:05 , George Flood

Southampton look set to test Chelsea’s resolve over Armando Broja.

The Albanian striker has impressed during the first half of a season-long loan stint at St Mary’s, scoring seven goals in 21 appearances across all competitions.

Southampton would like to convert that loan into a permanent deal in this window in order to avoid a significant battle for Broja during the summer.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea will be willing to sell Broja, with Fabrizio Romano now reporting that a £25m bid from the Saints is imminent.

Thomas Tuchel appeared to dismiss the idea of a sale only a few days ago, but could Chelsea potentially sanction it anyway and insert a buy-back clause, as they did when Tino Livramento joined Southampton last year?

This is likely to be of interest to Chelsea fans.

football.london carries reports suggesting that Ousmane Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, is currently in London.

The Blues are known to be monitoring Dembele, with Barcelona trying to sell the player after an ugly contract stand-off to avoid losing him for nothing in the summer.

Thomas Tuchel has also sung the French forward’s praises, expressing regret that they only got to work together for one year at Borussia Dortmund.

Isak to Arsenal doubts

08:04 , George Flood

An Arsenal move for Alexander Isak may prove difficult to complete before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Gunners are considering the Real Sociedad marksman plus the likes of Lille’s Jonathan David and Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin as alternative options to Dusan Vlahovic in their striker hunt, with the latter poised to join Juventus.

However, The Telegraph report that Isak is believed to hold reservations over a potential switch to north London at this stage.

Sociedad would also apparently require his £76m release clause to be paid in full. Is that much further than Arsenal are willing to go?

Lingard to Newcastle deal on verge of collapse

07:46 , George Flood

While Bruno Guimaraes could follow Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood into Newcastle before the deadline, one player who might not be arriving on Tyneside after all is Jesse Lingard.

The Athletic report that a loan deal is on the verge of collapse as Newcastle do not want to pay the sizeable fee being demanded by Manchester United.

Approaches for the England midfielder by the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Everton have already been rejected.

Ex-Hammers loanee Lingard - out of contract at the end of the season - has reportedly now decided that a move away would be in his best interests having previously indicated a desire to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford under Ralf Rangnick.

Tottenham in talks over Amrabat move

07:40 , George Flood

Tottenham are in talks with Fiorentina over a loan move for Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, writes Dan Kilpatrick.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte is desperate to bolster his midfield options, with Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli all free to leave the club before Monday's transfer deadline.

Amrabat was a regular for Fiorentina last season after signing from Hellas Verona but has fallen out of favour this term, playing just 215 minutes in Serie A.

He is considered a possible option to add depth to Conte's squad, with Harry Winks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp currently the Italian's only trusted midfielders.

The 25-year-old, who was born in the Netherlands, is currently representing Morocco at the African Cup of Nations.

Crystal Palace loan offer for Van de Beek

07:33 , George Flood

It has been a rather quiet window for Crystal Palace so far, with most of the major surgery on Patrick Vieira’s squad completed during the summer.

However, things are now livening up at Selhurst Park with the deadline in sight.

Per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Palace have submitted a straight loan offer for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Like Anthony Martial’s deal with Sevilla, the bid does not include any option for a permanent summer transfer as United want their next full-time manager to assess the whole squad.

However, Van de Beek apparently won’t rush his decision with Valencia among the other clubs interested in a loan deal.

Spurs are believed to have jumped to the front of the long queue to sign Colombian winger Luis Diaz.

Tottenham are still confident of bringing in Adama Traore from Wolves, even as they chase this Diaz deal.
