Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong gave his National Day Rally (NDR) speech on Sunday evening (18 August). In what is widely seen as the last NDR before the next general elections, Lee spoke on the economy and why stimulus measures aren't needed as yet, touched on US-China relations, and explained the urgent need to protect Singapore against climate change and rising sea levels. He also announced several measures to lower preschool and tertiary education costs, and the raising of the retirement age to 65 by 2030.
