SINGAPORE — A 27-year-old woman died on Wednesday (12 May) after falling from the sixth floor of Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).

In a Facebook post, TTSH said that the woman was an outpatient on follow-up care at one of its clinics and had attended a clinic appointment in the morning while accompanied by her family.

CCTV footage of the incident shows that the woman had climbed over a sixth-floor railing and jumped, TTSH said. Witnesses found her lying unconscious at the Basement 2 escalator lobby of TTSH's Medical Centre.

"Our medical staff attended to her immediately. She was brought to our Emergency Department and despite our efforts, had later succumbed to her injuries," said TTSH in its post.

The hospital added that its staff are working with the woman's family to offer their full support.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and TTSH said it is working with the police on the matter.

In response to media queries by Yahoo News Singapore, the police said they received a call for assistance at 12.10pm at 11 Jalan Tan Tock Seng, the site of the hospital.

The death of the woman has been classified as a case of unnatural death.
