Day 3 of The International 11 (TI11) Main Event saw another slugfest between two Western European teams in the lower bracket between the region's qualifier winner Entity and Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) winner Team Liquid.

After only the second full best-of-three of the Main Event, Liquid defeated Entity to keep their hopes for the Aegis of Champions alive.

The LCQ winners are now headed for a highly-anticipated showdown with another regional rival in OG in the third round of the lower bracket in Day 4.

Liquid and Entity took widely different paths to the Main Event and eventual showdown in the lower bracket.

Despite coming from the LCQ, Liquid were one of the most dominant teams of the Group Stage. They finished as the second seed of Group A with a 13-5 record, securing them an upper bracket berth.

In stark contrast, Entity had a tough time and only managed a 6-12 record in Group B. They then earned a lower bracket start in the Main Event by defeating Talon Esports in a tiebreaker.

In the Main Event, Liquid were quickly knocked down to the lower bracket by China's Team Aster while Entity survived a 107-minute epic against another Chinese team in Royal Never Give Up.

Liquid came out swinging to start the series, taking an easy game one victory in 33 minutes and with a 21-6 kill lead.

Entity then struck back hard in a 43-minute slugfest in game two behind an excellent showing by Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko's carry Sniper, who finished with 15 kills against three deaths.

Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen on Lifestealer then put Liquid on his back in the deciding game three, finishing with 14 kills against just one death as his team closed out the series after a 51-minute bloodbath.

Liquid's victory has guaranteed them at least a 7th-8th place finish as well as over US$420,000 in winnings. They will next face OG in the third round of the lower bracket in Day 4.

Meanwhile, Entity bow out of the competition in 9th-12th place and with over US$340,000 in consolation.

They are the second Western European team to bow out of TI11, leaving four teams from the region still in contention for the Aegis.

TI11 will be hosted in Singapore from 15 to 30 October and features a revamped format and a longer schedule.

TI11's Main Event will be a double-elimination bracket and is split into two phases, the first being held from 20 to 23 October while the second will take place from 29 to 30 October.
