South Korean organisation T1 announced Friday (27 November) that they have signed Souliya “JaCkky” Khoomphetsavong and Kenny “Xepher” Deo, ahead of the return of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) in January next year.

JaCkky has arguably been the most prominent rising star in Southeast Asia in recent months, shining as the carry player for Thai squad Motivate.Trust Gaming. The Thai professional led the team to win BTS Pro Series: SEA Season 3 in September and Dota Summit 13 Online: SEA earlier this month.

Motivate.Trust released JaCkky and offlaner Natthaphon "Masaros" Ouanphakdee earlier this week, with Masaros heading to Fnatic.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Xepher excelled as the position 4 support player for Geek Fam, which became the top team in Southeast Asia before it was unfortunately forced to disband in early September.

JaCkky and Xepher now join Karl “Karl” Jayme, Samson “Sam_H” Hidalgo, and Wilson “poloson” Koh Chin Wei to make up T1’s Dota 2 roster.

Three days prior, T1 notably announced the release of stalwart midlaner Muhammad “inYourdreaM” Rizky, support player Tri “Jhocam” Kuncoro, and coach Pyo “MP” No-a to make way for their new players.

The announcement of T1’s revamped roster comes shortly after Dota 2 publisher Valve revealed that the DPC will finally be returning on 18 January next year.

The DPC will resume for the 2020-2021 season with a new Regional League system, which splits the circuit into six regional leagues in North America, South America, Europe, the CIS, China, and Southeast Asia. Each league will have 16 participating teams split equally in an Upper and Lower Division.

Valve said that this new format “presents competitive Dota in a more scheduled and consistent way during the year and features a better structure for the development of Tier 2 and Tier 3 teams”.

With the DPC’s imminent return, more teams are expected to either announce new rosters and organisations that were previously forced to withdraw from the scene could make their return.
