Singapore Major: EG, Quincy Crew to represent North America
The first season of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit's (DPC) North American regional league has concluded, with Evil Geniuses (EG) and Quincy Crew representing the region in the upcoming ONE Esports Singapore Major.
While EG and Quincy Crew were the ones most expected to take the top two spots in the North American regional league, how this result came to be was quite unexpected.
At the end of the regular season, EG, Quincy Crew, and Undying each had a 6-1 record, forcing the three teams to play tiebreakers for the region's two Major slots. This came as a result of EG defeating Undying in Week 3, Quincy Crew beating EG in Week 5, and Undying ending the regular season with a win over Quincy Crew.
In the ensuing tiebreaker matches on Sunday (28 February), EG defeated both Undying and Quincy Crew to secure the top seed of the league. They earned a direct seed to the Major as well as the league's grand prize of US$30,000 and 500 DPC points to go towards securing a direct invite to The International 10 (TI10).
Quincy Crew then defeated Undying to punch their ticket to Singapore, where they will start the Major from the group stage. They also earned US$28,000 and 300 DPC points for finishing the league in second place.
Unfortunately for Undying, their defeat in the tiebreakers cost them a spot in the Major. They still take home US$27,000 and 200 DPC points for their efforts.
4Zoomers, SADBOYS, and Black N Yellow also miss out on a trip to Singapore but will still remain in the upper division for next season. SABOYS and Black N Yellow notably had to struggle to avoid relegation in another set of tiebreakers following the EG-Quincy Crew-Undying showdown.
That second round of tiebreakers for North America came as a result of SADBOYS, Black N Yellow, and A-Team all ending the regular season with a 2-5 record. SADBOYS defeated both Black N Yellow and A-Team to finish the league in fifth place, while Black N Yellow narrowly avoided relegation by scoring their own win over A-Team.
Unfortunately for A-Team, they will join 5ManMidas in being relegated to the lower division for next season. They will be replaced by Simply TOOBASED and The Cut, the top two teams of the lower division.

North America is the fifth regional league in the DPC to determine its representatives in the Singapore Major.
Southeast Asia was the first, with Fnatic, Neon Esports, and T1 as its representatives, South America was second with Beastcoast and Thunder Predator, Europe followed with Team Secret, Alliance, Team Nigma, and Team Liquid, while CIS will be represented by Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, and AS Monaco Gambit.
