In a strange photo shared on Facebook, public toilet cubicles in the popular Indonesian tourist destination Bali are shown with see-through glass doors, which seemingly allow all and sundry to witness the toileting activities of users.

Along with the photo, the uploader joked, “The public toilets in Bali are so advanced with transparent doors. There is no need to worry about missing the coach when taking a dump.” He added that closing the door does not turn it translucent, and cheekily said there must be people selling masks nearby.

Other netizens who saw this post could not help but comment sarcastically. “There is a blue container for you to hide your face,” one said.

“Why make the door lol,” another wondered.

“As expected of an ‘open’ tourist hotspot,” said one user.

Some netizens thought this toilet design was impossible, and speculated that there might be some special mechanism, such as the door fogging or turning opaque when closed.

Some came up with more creative conjectures. “Is this the kind where the people outside can see what is inside, but not vice versa?” one asked.

“After you close the door, there will be a patch of mosaic on the glass to hide your face,” another person ventured.

Whatever it is, would you dare to use this toilet?
