EZ-link season passes can only be used until the end of 2014, EZ-Link Pte Ltd announced on Wednesday.

The company said in a media statement that it had decided to discontinue the use of Season Passes and to “work towards delivering value, convenience and ease of travel to commuters in other ways”.

Existing season pass holders can continue to purchase their weekly passes until 25 December, while monthly passes can be bought only until 1 December. EZ-Link will continue to accept new season pass applications until the end of this month.

Once the passes expire, commuters can continue to use them as normal EZ-link cards, or obtain a refund of the balance value from TransitLink Ticket offices. Unused periods on monthly or weekly passes will not be refunded.

The season pass was launched by EZ-Link in 2009 and allowed unlimited travel on basic bus services, MRT and LRT within weekly or monthly time periods.
