4-year-old girl dies after accident in Bukit Batok; driver arrested
A four-year-old girl died on Monday evening (9 Oct) after being hit by a car in Bukit Batok, and a motorist was subsequently arrested.
The police said on Tuesday that they were alerted at around 6.40pm Monday to an accident involving a car and two female pedestrians along Bukit Batok Central towards Bukit Batok West Avenue 2.
Both casualties were sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. The girl was unconscious when conveyed to the hospital, and subsequently died of her injuries.
The other pedestrian, who is 37 years old, was conscious when taken to the hospital, the police said.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the accident at about 6.40pm Monday and sent two ambulances to the scene. Both the woman and child had serious injuries, SCDF said.
A 53-year-old man was arrested for causing death by a rash act.
Media reports said the injured woman is a maid who was with the girl when the accident occurred.
Police investigations are ongoing.
